One of Hartford's landmark car dealerships is about to shut its showroom.
Thomas Cadillac Jaguar is to close on the sale of its franchises in January, according to Doug Thomas of the dealership.
"I can't say much about it," said Thomas, "but we're proud to have been part of the community for 31 years."
In a statement from the company, Thomas said the retail climate and its effect on the auto business played a role.
If people buy cars, they are told they'll have to bring their vehicles to other dealers for service, he said. Thomas declined to name the dealers buying the franchises.
Thomas moved from Albany Avenue in Hartford to a site across Weston Street from the Hartford Correctional Center several years ago.
