She spent more than two decades on television in Connecticut, but now Janet Peckinpaugh has new aspirations -- She's running for Congress.
The former NBC Connecticut newswoman confirmed she filed paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission Monday. She is seeking the Republican nomination for the Congress in Connecticut's 2nd district.
Peckinpaugh currently lives in Essex, and runs her own production company. She has also been running Lisa Wilson-Foley's campaign for Lt. Governor.
There are already two other Republicans hoping for the 2nd district nomination to take on Democratic incumbent Joe Courtney.
Matthew Daly of Glastonbury, and Daria Novak of Madison have also filed paperwork to run.
Peckinpaugh says she will make an official announcement Tuesday.
The party's nominating convention will be held May 21.
