Jared Rohrig, the Orange police officer accused of having sex with a woman who thought he was actually his twin brother, has quit amid charges of sexual assault.
Rohrig resigned from the force on Monday night, a move that "was in his best interest as well as the best interests of the town of Orange," according to a statement by Police Chief Robert Gagne, The Connecticut Post reported.
Rohrig, 25, was arrested last month after a woman claimed she believed she was having sex with Rohrig’s twin brother, Joseph. The absence of a cowboy tattoo on his buttocks tipped her off that she was with the wrong brother. She says she tried to stop, but Jared Rohrig continued to sexually assault her in a hot tub.
The alleged assault happened at the Flax Mill Lane home where the brothers live with their family.
