Cause of Yale Student Death Remains Unknown

Death comes less two months since Yale grad student Annie Le's murder

On Sunday night, Andre Narcisse’s friends gathered to remember the Yale University sophomore who was found dead inside his dorm room Sunday morning.

Narcisse’s roommates found the 19-year-old from Roosevelt, New York unresponsive inside his Brandford College dorm room around 11 a.m. on Sunday, Yale spokesperson Dorie Baker said.

His roommates immediately alerted authorities, who attempted to resuscitate the student, but were unsuccessful, Baker said. Police also responded and were unable to find any evidence of foul play. As of Tuesday morning, it is still not clear what killed Narcisse.

Jonah Quinn was one of more than 20 of Narcisse’s friends who gathered in Battell Chapel’s Lovett Room Sunday evening to share stories about his life, the Yale Daily News reports.

“He would want us to become as much as we can be,” Quinn told the school publication.

Friends told the Daily News that Narcisse loved seeing others have fun, was a loyal and intelligent friend, told corny jokes and researched the architectural details of his residential college just because he wanted to know.

He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, where he was a varsity wrestler, and was proud of his Haitian heritage, the friends told the paper.

The finalist for the 2008 National Achievement Scholarship, which honors outstanding black students, hoped to become a Wall Street executive, friends said.

Narcisse's family was notified of his passing, Baker said.

An autopsy will be performed by the state's Chief Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause of death.

Narcisse is the second Yale student to die on campus since the beginning of the school year. Yale graduate student Annie Le was found in September, strangled and hidden away behind a wall in her lab.

Lab tech Raymond Clark III has been charged with Le's murder. He is set to next appear in court on Tuesday.
