Avon police say a teenager shot in his bike helmet Thursday night shot himself.
Police responded to a call for a gunshot on Lenox Road at 9:54 p.m. and found a teen who told police that two people fired a gun at him and it hit his bike helmet, police said.
Detectives now say that was all a lie. After hours of questioning, police say the teenager confessed.
He was not hurt in the shooting.
Police say the teenager also has information on some recent burglaries in the Lenox Rd neighborhood that could help them solve a few of those cases.
They say residents are safe tonight and have offered their assurances that this was an isolated incident.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about it should call Avon Police at 860-409-4200 or leave an anonymous tip at 860-409-4232.
