A 5-year-old boy has significant injuries after a pit bull attacked him in a home in Manchester Thursday evening and dragged him outside the home, according to police.
Police responded to a home on Patriot Lane at 4:45 p.m. after a neighbor of the family called 911 after a resident called out for her to contact authorities for help.
The call then turned frantic when it became clear that a dog was attacking a child.
The child was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Officers determined that a family member’s 1-year-old pit bull attacked the little boy, but they are not sure which resident of the home owns the dog.
The dog will now have to serve a mandatory 14-day quarantine at the Tyler Regional Animal Care Shelter in South Windsor.
