A security camera captured a violent confrontation between a would-be robber and a store clerk in New Haven.
Two masked men walked into Babe's Market at 604 Ferry Street around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday. One man pulled out a gun and tried to rob a customer and then the clerk, according to police.
The clerk, Karar Jawad, pulled out his own pistol and fired at the alleged robber. Jawad has a permit to carry a gun, police said.
The whole event was captured by the store's security camera, according to the New Haven Independent, which first posted the video on its site.
The two suspects ran from the store after Jawad fired his weapon.
A short time later, a man police identified as Harry Anderson, 18, of New Haven, walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound. Detectives determined Anderson was a suspect in the Babe's Market robbery, according to police.

Anderson was arrested and kept under police guard at the hospital as he recovers from his gunshot wound.
He was charged with first-degree robbery, reckless endangerment and carrying a pistol without a permit.
