Cop Charged With Child Porn Resigns, Gets $30,000

David Bourque's lawyer said he didn't produce porn.

Granby officials have agreed to pay $30,000 to a former police captain charged in a federal child pornography case in exchange for his resignation.

Former Capt. David Bourque, 51, was arrested in April after thousands of child pornography images and videos were found on his personal computer, according to federal authorities. He was also charged with marijuana possession and pleaded not guilty.

Bourque resigned after having been on paid administrative leave since his arrest.

Town officials said they would have had to continue paying his $86,000 annual salary while his court cases were pending, the Hartford Courant reports.

The $30,000 deal includes compensation for accrued vacation time and sick days.

Bourque's lawyer said his client didn't produce any child porn and calls the case "voyeurism at its worst." Bourque is free on $150,000 bail.
