Investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire at a vacant house in New Haven on Wednesday morning.
Crews were called to the home on Dean Street around 5:15 a.m. after getting a report of a fire.
Firefighters at the scene said a fire in the garage extended to the house and was coming out of a four by four foot hole in the roof. There was also fire reported in the attic of the home.
Fire officials said the home was vacant and it appears people were about to move in because there was luggage inside and a vehicle parked in the driveway.
It took firefighters approximately 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. High winds from the airport hampered firefighters' efforts to control the fire, authorities said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
