A 46-year-old Stamford man has been charged with assault after police say he used a pickaxe on a car where his teenage daughter had fled after an argument.
Police tell the Stamford Advocate they arrested Richard Palkimas on Wednesday after he broke the passenger-side car window with the tool.
Sgt. Sean McGowan said the girl ran to the car and locked the doors because she was scared after arguing with her father.
The girl was cut by the broken glass, but refused treatment for her injuries, McGowan said.
Palkimas' lawyer, Lindy Urso, calls the assault charge unwarranted.
The teen had taken the only set of car keys and her father was simply trying to prevent her from driving off in the vehicle, Urso said.
