Kennedy Middle School in Enfield was in lockdown Monday afternoon.
An alert posted on the school’s Web site at 1:30 p.m. says the lockdown was over a suspicious envelope in the main office that contains a white powder.
Police and firefighters were called to the school. No one was treated for exposure to the substance, according to Enfield police.
Students were dismissed at the normal time.
A hazardous materials team was being brought in to remove the envelope for testing, police said.
Classes will be held as scheduled Tuesday, according to the Tim Van Tasel, Kennedy Middle School Principal.
