A garage filled with hazardous materials is damaged after a fire in Danbury on Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to a garage fire on Fairlawn Avenue shortly after 8:00 a.m. Firefighters at Fire Headquarters say right before they were called to the house, they heard an explosion.
When the firefighters arrived, they found a two-bay, detached garage with heavy fire showing. Officials say the garage had hazardous materials like oxygen and propane tanks inside for a glass blowing operation.
Since there are no hydrants on Fairlawn Drive, firefighters were forced to stretch hose 700 feet across backyards from Edgewood Street to the garage.
The fire was quickly extinguished by crews on the scene.
No injuries were reported.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
