A two-alarm fire heavily damaged the Segalla Construction Company on Allyndale Road in North Canaan Tuesday morning, according to fire officials.
Firefighters were first called to the scene around 8:15 a.m. A total of four departments responded and it took about an hour to extinguish the flames, fire officials said.
John Barbagallo, spokesman for the North Canaan and Norfolk fire departments, said the structure was fully involved when crews arrived. No one was inside the building at the time and no injuries were reported.
Barbagallo described the fire as “devastating” for the local family business. There is significant damage to the building and equipment.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
