New Haven police arrested a man after he admitted he beat his wife with a six-pack of beer.
Officers were called to a report of an assault at 58 Victory Drive just after 11 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived they found Chastiny Atkinson badly bruised, according to police.
She told officers her husband, Michael Wallace, came home drunk and began to argue with her over "two dudes that don't even exist", in Atkinson's words. She said Wallace hit her in the head with a coffee pot and then with a six-pack of beer, before ripping her hair out and choking her, according to police.
Wallace allegedly threatened his wife that he would get revenge on her if she called police. He left the house and Atkinson called authorities.
Two hours later, Wallace tried to get back into the home, according to police. He was found by police a few blocks away and arrested. Wallace told officers his wife hit him with the coffee pot and it was then that he struck her with the beer, police said.
Wallace was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree strangulation, reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening and breach of peace. He was also ordered to have no contact with his wife.
