Police are searching for the person who broke into a Berlin liquor store and stole cigarettes Sunday morning.
According to police, the suspect smashed his way into the Berlin Spirits Shop at 118 Mill Street just after 8 a.m. Sunday. He broke the glass front door, entered the store and sold cigarettes, police said.
Surveillance video captured images of the suspect and his car. He’s described as a white or possibly Hispanic man in his late 40s or 50s with a scruffy, graying beard. Surveillance footage shows him wearing a Boston Red Sox hat, a dark sweatshirt, light-colored pants, dark boots and gloves.
Police describe the suspect’s car as a dark gray or blue Buick Roadmaster station wagon manufactured between 1991 and 1996 with wood-grain sides and a roof rack. The car is registered in Connecticut, police said.
Authorities are investigating to determine whether the burglary might be connected to similar incidents in other towns, including Newington, Avon, Wethersfield, Farmington and Windsor.
