A New Britain man is under arrest, accused of holding his family hostage and threatening to burn their house down, police said.
Edgar Montalvo, 46, was arrested Sunday. He became angry after his son didn't pause his Nintendo Wii game system fast enough when Montalvo asked him to deal with the family's barking dogs, the man's wife told police.
Investigators say Montalvo grabbed the Wii, smashed it and threw it out the front door, the New Britain Herald reports. They say he then used a billy club-type weapon to keep family members inside, refusing to let them leave the house.
He was charged with disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree threatening, third-degree assault, two counts of second-degree unlawful restraint and risk of injury to a minor.
