Two people were struck by a car after their car caught fire on the Q Bridge in New Haven on Thursday night.
Police said two people were standing outside of their 1997 Subaru Impreza on the northbound side of the highway, near exit 50 at 10:15 p.m., after the car caught fire when another driver pulled up behind them.
He put his hazard lights on and used his fire extinguisher to put out the fire when another vehicle hit the back of the Subaru, pushing it into the people standing beside their truck, police said.
Police extricated the victims and brought them to Yale-New haven Hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver accused of causing the crash suffered minor injuries and was also brought to the hospital.
He was charged with failure to drive at a reasonable distance apart.
