A female pit bull found by the side of the road in East Windsor, Connecticut, had to be euthanized, according to police.
The dog was found laying on a pink blanket in a wooded area of East Road, police said.
The gray pit bull had significant medical problems and couldn't walk. She was rushed to the Enfield Animal Hospital, but had to be put to sleep because of the severity of her problems, according to police.
The East Windsor animal control officer said the dog's medical issues were not the result of abuse and that whoever left her there wanted her to be found.
Police are looking for the dog's owner and want to remind people that there are always options other than dumping a pet if an owner is unable to care for it.
Anyone with information on who may have owned the dog is asked to call East Windsor police at 860-292-8240.
