State police say an elderly Uncasville couple was killed in a crash that closed I-395 in Norwich on Saturday night.
John Adams, 85, and 79-year-old Joan Adams were killed when their car veered off the southbound side of I-395, through the median and into the northbound lanes of the highway, according to police.
Their car hit another car and rolled onto its side before being struck by a minivan, police said.
The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. and closed the highway for hours.
The driver of the car that was hit head-on, 23-year-old Amber Nicole Castle, of Norwich, was critically injured in the crash. The passengers in the third car involved were not injured, police said.
State police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to call Trooper First Class Piper at Troop E in Montville at (860) 848-6500.
