East Windsor police are investigating after a 6-month-old boy was brought to Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford with bruises all over his body on Tuesday.
The baby, a foster child living in the Broad Brook section of East Windsor, was healthy and fine during an appointment with his pediatrician early Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
He was then dropped off for a supervised visit with his biological mother and grandmother and was injured when his foster parents picked up later that evening.
"The child has injuries to the front and back of the head, torso and arms and eyes," said Det. Matthew Carl of the East Windsor Police Department.
The baby was admitted to the hospital around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Police said his injuries are not life threatening.
Around 11 p.m., six hours after the child was brought in for medical attention, the Department of Children and Family Services reported that a baby with significant injuries had been brought in for medical care hours earlier, according to police.
"We are conducting a joint investigation into the baby's condition with the East Windsor Police Department whom we notified last evening," DCF officials said in a statement Wednesday. "The Department has already been in consultation with medical experts to assist us in determining the nature and origin of this child's injuries and to provide necessary treatment."

The foster and biological parents are cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed.
"We are working with DCF on the matter about the whereabouts where the child was throughout the course of the day," Carl said.
