An investigation is underway into students at both middle schools in Southington sending inappropriate text messages through social media, according to police.
Authorities said there is an active and ongoing investigation and it involves juveniles, but it is not clear who the messages were sent to.
The two middle schools are Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School as well John F. Kennedy Middle School.
Police would not elaborate on the texts, other than to say they are inappropriate, and did not release any additional information about the investigation.
Supt. Timothy Connellan would not say how many students are affected or if parents were notified.
"We don't comment on student matters," he said.
