Police have identified a man found dead at 62 Howe Avenue in Shelton on Friday morning in an untimely death investigation.
Police received a 911 call for medical assistance at 6:45 a.m. and responded to the scene, where they found Richard Briereheck, 46, dead on the second floor of his home. They also found the person who called in the emergency.
"The investigation is currently ongoing at this time," Shelton Police Capt. Robert Kozlowsky said.
No other parties were found dead or injured.
“There’s no information that anyone in the area is in any danger or at any risk at this time," Kozlowsky said.
Neighbors are wondering what details investigators will reveal.
"I just hope they find out what happened," neighbor Nancy Smith said.
Shelton police requested the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Major Crimes Squad a short time later. Around 2 p.m., the state's attorney for Ansonia/Milford Judicial District asked state police detectives to take over the investigation, according to state police.
The state medical examiner will perform an autopsy to determine how the man died, police said.
State police detectives from the Central District Major Crime squad responded and are overseeing the investigtion.
