A week after a severed cat head was found in Oxford, officials almost 30 miles away have received a report of a severed cat head in Fairfield.
A resident called animal control around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday to report that a cat’s head was found on an artificial turf putting green of their single-family house on Steiner Street.
The woman who called animal control said her husband saw the head, police said.
Like the two heads found in Oxford, this one was cut off cleanly and did not appear to have been attacked by an animal, so the residents were concerned, the caller told police.
By the time police arrived at the house, the head was gone, so police could not compare it to the cases in Oxford.
It might have been taken away by wildlife, officials said.
