Six people were rescued from a sinking yacht that was taking on water off the Waterford coast line Saturday afternoon.
According to the Goshen Fire Department in Waterford, a 60 foot yacht hit an object in the water near Harkness State Park in the Long Island Sound just before 3:00 p.m.
"All the passengers on the boat were rescued by other boats in the water before emergency crews arrived. No one was injured," said Fire Chief Don Chapman Jr.
The fire department says a salvage company is on the way to tow the boat.
The United States Coast Guard also responded to the incident.
