Train, Car Collide in Stamford

The accident was minor, but caused service to be suspended on Metro North's New Canaan branch.

A Metro North train struck a car in Stamford early Thursday morning.

The car was hit around 5 a.m. at a crossing at Riverbend Road near Hope Street, according to police. The driver of the car was not injured, police said.

The train was used for carrying equipment, and had no passengers on board, according to the Metropolitan Transit Authority.

Service on the New Canaan Metro North branch was suspended because of the accident.  Bus service was being provided to passengers on the New Canaan branch.
