Lobo Tweets Emergency Plane Landing

The former UConn star was onboard a flight that made an emergency landing.

Former UConn star and current ESPN women’s basketball analyst Rebecca Lobo had a bumpy journey to Los Angeles on Monday night.

Lobo was on a Delta flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles on Monday night when an engine problem forced the pilot to turn back around shortly after takeoff, the Associated Press reports.

“Just landed our plane and evacuated through inflatable slide. Dear God,” Lobo tweeted last night.

Another passenger told Lobo that something flew into the left engine and it was on fire the 20 minutes the flight was in the air and Lobo said, via Twitter, that the bus transporting passengers drove past the charred left engine.

“So glad I didn’t have my kids on this flight,” she tweeted.

The flight was supposed to land at 4 a.m. eastern time but did not leave Atlanta until 4 a.m., according to Lobo’s tweets.

The airline gave the passengers $100 vouchers, but some people complained, Lobo tweeted.

“Guy wants more $ because he was "delayed from final destination". I believe in heaven/hell & am glad 2 b delayed from my "final destination," Lobo Tweeted.

Delta spokeswoman Chris Kelly Singley told the Associated Press that the nature of the engine problem was not known.

Lobo commented that Delta personnel and rescue workers in Atlanta were “outstanding” and that most of the passengers were great too.

She is in Los Angeles to announce game between her former team, the New York Liberty, and Los Angeles Sparks game on ESPN 2 tonight.

Three passengers on board Delta flight 1323 sustained minor injures. It is believed they were hurt going down the slide. Lobo was not hurt.

She lives in Connecticut with her husband and their four children.
