Landscaper Accused of Weed Whacker Assault

The workers were working at a home in Orange when things got violent.

A work dispute between two landscapers turned into a odd attack when one hit the other in the head with a running weed whacker, police said.

Ramiro Avila, 54, of New Haven, and his co-worker were doing work at the same home in Orange when they got into a dispute and Avila whacked the other person with the yard care equipment, police said.

Avila was arrested Tuesday morning just after 8 a.m. and charged with second-degree assault.

The victim was treated at Milford Hospital for a laceration to his head.

Avila was freed on $7,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 9.
