There could soon be some relief for Bristol residents and beyond frustrated by a low-frequency sound.
Reworld, the trash-to-energy facility, said it has ordered new parts for induced draft fans, which are believed to be causing the noise.
Those will be installed later this month.
The company included this information in paperwork filed Wednesday to withdraw its appeal of a violation order issued by the Bristol-Burlington Health District.

The withdrawal notice was shared with NBC CT Responds.
In it, Reworld said it “takes noise concerns seriously” and that withdrawing from the hearing process allows the company to continue taking measures to address the noise.
A spokesperson for Reworld issued the following statement:

"We can confirm that we have withdrawn our appeal. During the past year, Reworld has undertaken extensive efforts to reduce noise at the plant, including replacing fan motors to synchronize fan speeds and ultimately reduce noise. Subsequently, with the support from a third-party sound engineering firm, Reworld installed new technology called Quiet Fan Technology, designed to further reduce the sound. After these upgrades, an independent consultant found that the changes have brought the noise levels down below the standards set forth in the City of Bristol Code of Ordinances and the state regulations. We will continue to work with the local community and explore ways to reduce noise even further."
A lawyer for the local health district said it can now issue fines and pursue other levels of enforcement until the noise issue is resolved.
