They are in town filming “Great Hope Springs” and Southeastern Connecticut is standing in for a small fictional town in Maine. The film is about a middle-aged couple attending an intense counseling weekend to decide the fate of their marriage after being together for 30 years, according to IMDB.
Crews have been transforming storefronts on Water Street.
Noah’s Restaurant has been changed to the “Nor'easter Diner” and AK Dasher Jewelry is temporarily being turned into a hardware store.
Studio crews are expected to film through mid-October and the movie is expected to hit the big screen in December 2012.
Other locations being used for filming are Guilford, South Norwalk, Stamford and Darien.
Steve Carell plays the the marriage therapist Streep and Jones go to see, but you won’t find Carell filming scenes in the Nutmeg State. His scenes were previously filmed elsewhere.
