Twitter continues to roll out improvements to their homepage, finally enabling features that have long been available on many desktop and mobile Twitter applications.
The first big push came on Oct. 30 with the wide-release of the highly anticipated Lists feature, which allows users to curate followers into categorized feeds.
Just a few days later Twitter began testing 'new tweet' notifications, so that each time someone that the user follows tweets, the user will receive a '1 new tweet' notice that will update the feed when clicked.
"We think it improves the tweet consumption experience and hope to roll it out to everyone as soon as we can," Twitter wrote of the feature which has long been part of its search page.
On Thursday, Twitter finally announced a feature that they teased back in August when they shared a very rough sketch of a retweet button. The initial release of the retweet button rolled out to a limited number of accounts that afternoon.
"Retweet is a button that makes forwarding a particularly interesting tweet to all your followers very easy," Twitter announced on their blog on Thursday afternoon.
"In turn, we hope interesting, newsworthy, or even just plain funny information will spread quickly through the network making its way efficiently to the people who want or need to know."
Though it is shocking how long it's taken Twitter to release these features, hopefully, with the Twitter homepage up to spec, they'll be able to get moving on Thursday's promise to keep spammy tweets out of trend queries.
