A New York man is dead after a crash on Interstate 95 in Westport Saturday morning.
Police said they responded to a multi-vehicle crash between exits 17 and 18 on I-95 north around 5:15 a.m.
According to police, a Chevrolet Astro van was struck from behind by a Volkswagen Jetta while both vehicles were traveling in the center lane. The force of the crash caused the van to veer off the road into a guard rail then roll down an embankment.
A passenger in the van, identified as 32-year-old Muhamad Bahaga of the Bronx, NY, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on scene. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The other people in the van were taken to Norwalk hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen was not transported.
The crash remains under investigation.
