Heavy rain and strong winds pounded the state Wednesday into Thursday and thousands lost power during the storm.
As of 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, Eversource was reporting 23,955 without power and United Illuminating was reporting 5,538 out.
Route 7 and the Newtown Turnpike in Wilton were closed due to trees and wires down in the road.
In Old Saybrook, wires came down on Route 1 at the Westbrook town line.
Tolland was also reporting trees and wires down.
A flood watch has been issued for the Litchfield Hills, with up to 4 inches of rain expected. There are also flood watches in effect for parts of Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties until 10 a.m. Thursday.

The rain is expected to continue into the early morning hours Thursday, but looks to clear out before the morning commute.
The strong wind could also cause issues. There could be winds of 20 mph to 30 mph with gusts over 40 mph.
Shoreline areas of New London County could see occasional gusts over 50 mph, which could lead to sporadic power outages and downed tree limbs. A wind advisory has been issued for southern New London County.

There is also a small risk for coastal flooding. A coastal flood warning has been issued for Fairfield and New Haven counties. A coastal flood advisory is in effect for the rest of the shoreline.
Milford was already dealing with rising waters in flood-prone areas Wednesday afternoon.
Shallow flooding is expected in the lowest lying areas along the shoreline.
