Another Eversource Hartford Marathon is in the books, bringing together more than 11,000 runners on Saturday.
Training for this moment for months. Thousands of runners took off from Capitol Avenue for their first or 25th Eversource Hartford Marathon.
"It's the best day in the city. Even though it's raining, it doesn't matter," said volunteer Stacy Brusa, of Glastonbury.
Fans lining the streets, cheering them on.
"I've been the recipient of so much support in my marathon running that it's fun to finally be on the other side and help energize and excite, support the runners," said Sharon Geyer, of Pomfret.
And just an hour after the start, the elite half-marathon runners began crossing the finish line. They were met by some of the more than 2,000 dedicated volunteers, who spent hours preparing for race day.
Connecticut native Stacy Brusa, a long-time volunteer, traveled a long way this year.
"I actually recently relocated to Munich, Germany, earlier in the year, and so I flew 4,000 miles to come back and be a part of the 25th running," she said.

And the Capital City can expect at least another five years of partnership with Eversource, which has signed on until 2022.
"The economic uplift, support provided by this event, the millions of dollars that are raised for charitable causes really do change lives," said James Judge, the CEO of Eversource Energy.
A tradition with many more miles to go.
"It's just great to have this whole marathon atmosphere in Hartford," added Geyer.
