The search for a missing East Haddam man ended on Saturday afternoon when a State Police K-9 unit located his body.
Officials have not released many details, but said Robert Masci's body was found in an area that was not searched previously.
His family identified the body. Police said there does not seem to be a criminal aspect to Masci's death. An autopsy will be performed.
Hundreds of volunteers participated in the search on Saturday morning for Masci, 68, who went for a morning walk on Tuesday and had not been seen since.
Masci suffered from dementia and was reported missing after walking near Boardman Road, which is near his home.
Volunteers gathered at Nathan Hale Ray High School in Moodus, where they filled out registration forms and were taken to the East Haddam fire station by school bus. They were then split up into groups to assist in the search.
Emergency crews had two shifts for Saturday’s search. One started at 7 a.m. and another at noon.
