Woman Who Set Nursing Home Fire Will Stay in Conn.

A Connecticut judge has rescinded an order to transfer a disabled woman who set a fire that killed 16 people from a state psychiatric hospital to a Rhode Island nursing home.

On Wednesday, Judge Joan Alexander canceled the order she issued Monday approving the transfer of Leslie Andino from Connecticut Valley Hospital to Berkshire Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Providence.

The Connecticut hospital requested the move, and Berkshire Place said it never agreed to accept her.

Connecticut officials said there was a misunderstanding. A Berkshire Place administrator said he decided a week and a half ago that his facility couldn't meet Andino's needs.

Andino is accused of setting a  fire that killed 16 fellow patients at Hartford's Greenwood Health Center in 2003.

She was declared incompetent to stand trial and committed to Connecticut Valley Hospital.
