A man threatening to take his own life with a gun prompted a shelter-in-place order in a Wallingford neighborhood late Friday night.
Police responded to a home on Perkins Drive just before 10 p.m. The road was closed for several hours into Saturday morning.
According to police, there were three other people inside the home with the despondent man. They were taken out of the home through a second story window, police said.
Residents were asked to stay in their homes and away from their windows around 1 a.m. Non-residents were asked to avoid the area.

The man eventually surrendered peacefully around 10:30 a.m. and taken to the hospital for an evaluation, according to police. He was later charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct.
The shelter-in-place order was lifted after he was taken into custody.
