Officers attempted negotiations with the man in an attempt to get him to surrender peacefully.
The man, who had left his apartment and was on the rear porch, jumped a short distance and was taken into custody.
Once the man was in custody, officers went into the man's apartment to make sure there were no possible victims. Police have since secured the apartment and are waiting to execute a search warrant for further evidence.
