Missing Boater Died of Natural Causes

Richard Fiske, 75, had been missing since Sunday.

The man who went missing while boating on Lake Housatonic died of natural causes.

Authorities recovered the body of Richard Fiske Sunday morning.

A person in a canoe noticed something under the water and called 911, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. DEEP EnCon police and a state police dive team searched the area and found the body of Richard Fiske a short time later.

Fiske, 75, had been missing since his scull was found on Lake Housatonic on the Oxford-Shelton line last Monday. Fiske, of Woodbridge, signed out the scull from the New Haven Rowing Club at 407 Roosevelt Drive in Oxford. Someone later found the boat, but there was no sign of Fiske.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Fiske died of a brain hemmorage.
