Car Crashes Into CVS

A driver hit the wrong pedal.

There is a gaping hole in the CVS at 566 Farmington Ave. in Hartford after a car went through a brick wall and into the store on Thursday.

The driver was an 83-year-old woman, Hartford police said. She was either pulling into a parking space or trying to leave when she hit the gas instead of the brakes.

She took out a support column on the way in, Deputy Chief Darren Hudson, of the Hartford Fire Department, said.

Authorities evacuated the CVS because of structural concerns. City officials will inspect the building to see when it can reopen.

The woman has minor injuries. She tried to refuse treatment, but was taken to a local hospital to be evaluated. No one inside the store was hurt.
