A car parked inside the service garage at Grossman Nissan on Middlesex Turnpike in Old Saybrook caught fire, sending flames and smoke throughout the rear portion of the building.
The three-alarm fire broke out late Saturday afternoon during a busy time of the day.
A man working on the roof at the time of the fire had to be rescued by the fire department's ladder truck.
He was brought down safely. There were no injuries inside the building.
There was minimal damage to the front portion of the building. The rear suffered some smoke damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
