ConnectiCon Brings Thousands to Hartford

You might notice a lot more people in costume roaming the streets of downtown Hartford this weekend.

ConnectiCon 2010 starts today at the Connecticut Convention Center and Hartford Marriott Downtown. In 2009, more than 7,000 people attended the event.

People have been tweeting about the event for days. Today, many of the tweets have been about costumes, including Jack Sparrow, Alladdin a pilgrim in a corset

Organizers say ConnectiCon is a celebration of pop culture - everything from anime, to science fiction, comic books and card games.

A variety of activities are available such as 24-hour screening rooms for movies, live performances, guest speakers, role playing games and more than 100 gaming systems.

People waiting in line can even play spontaneous games of Twister.

ConnectiCon runs until midnight on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday from 8 a.m to 6 p.m.
