Connecticut protesters join nationwide rally against Trump

On Saturday, people in Connecticut participated in a nationwide rally against the federal government. The “Hands Off!” rallies are protesting President Donald Trump, his administration and tech billionaire Elon Musk.

In Hartford, a large group of people and Democratic lawmakers gathered at the Capitol.

The lawmakers at this protest gathered to send a message to President Donlad Trump and Elon Musk.

At the protest State Attorney General William Tong said ""We're here to protect gender affirming care. We're here to fight for medical research and the NIH and we're there to stop Elon Musk and his army of hackers and wanna be stormtroopers from tearing up the federal government,"

In Middletown, protesters with a variety of signs walked the streets expressing discontentment with issues surrounding health, immigration, foreign diplomacy and other pressing issues.

“They can’t ignore our voices,” veteran Patrick Reardon said. “If we keep yelling loud enough someone’s going to listen,”

“If we don’t come out and do this, nobody else if going to do that,” Ellen Steinberg said. “We have to apply pressure on Congress,”

Protests were also planned in Waterbury, New Haven, Newtown, Enfield and other towns across the state. In total, more than 1,200 "Hands Off!" demonstrations were expected across the U.S.
