Crews battle brush fire in residential area of North Haven

Firefighters have contained a brush fire that broke out in a residential area of North Haven.

The fire department said they're in the area of 268 Upper State St., near Sinoway Pond, and are working to keep the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

Firefighters will remain at the scene overnight due to weather conditions.

Parts of Upper State Street and Hartford Turnpike remain closed at this time.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Forestry Division responded to the scene and will check on the area throughout the day Saturday.

The fire broke out at around 4:45 p.m. and was contained by 7 p.m. No injuries were reported and there haven't been any evacuations.

No additional information was immediately available.
