A 72-year-old Goshen man has died after he struck a tree in Torrington early Friday morning, according to police.
Police have identified the man as Peter Jacquette.
They found him while responding to a report around 3:50 a.m. that a vehicle hit a tree on Pothier Road near Brandy Hill Road.
Police said Jacquette had been driving a1999 S10 Chevrolet pickup, which was angled on an embankment, and he died at the scene.

Investigators said it appears that his pickup was the only vehicle involved in the crash and they are investigating.
