One person has died after a house fire in Plainfield on Monday morning.
Emergency crews were called to a four-family home on Sachem Drive in the Central Village section of Plainfield around 3 a.m. and began evacuating residents and putting out the fire.
Once the fire was suppressed, one person was found inside and was pronounced dead. Fire officials said it appeared he was the only person in the unit. The person's name and age have not been released.
The victim's friends gathered outside this morning, consoling each other.

Residents of the other units are displaced, fire officials said, and residents of one of the units were not at home Monday because they were out of town.
The fire remains under investigation by the Town of Plainfield fire marshal's office, the Plainfield Police Department and the Connecticut State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit.
