Police have arrested a student they say brought a BB gun to Enfield High School on Wednesday.
Staff at the school alerted the school resource officer around 10:30 a.m. that a student had heard another student "racking" the slide of a handgun in the school bathroom, according to police.
The school was locked down and more officers arrived at the scene.
The student in question was located in a classroom and patted down for weapons.

Officers found what appeared to be a functional handgun in the student's waistband, police said. It was later determined the weapon contained BB gun components and a BB gun magazine.
The 18-year-old student was arrested on several charges, including carrying a dangerous weapon, possessing a weapon on school grounds, first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a child, and first-degree breach of peace.
He was held on $100,000 bond.
