FBI Helps Investigate Mysterious Groton Murder

Tree farmer was found stabbed in a car on his tree farm.

William Spicer Jr. was found stabbed to death on his Groton tree farm, Sparkle Lake Tree Farm, more than 16 years ago and the investigation is getting some extra help.

The FBI Evidence Response Team, state police dive team and a Department of Correction special investigation unit are helping investigate the death of the 82-year-old man whose body was found inside a Ford Taurus on a dirt road on March 15, 1995, the Norwich Bulletin reports

A news conference was held on Tuesday at the Spicers' tree farm.

The Groton police and the New London County Cold Case Unit continue to investigate the death and there is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Spicer's murder.
