Breaking up was especially hard to do for a New Britain man who police say doused his girlfriend and a pile of her clothing in lighter fluid as she was preparing to leave him.
Javier Alvarez Jr., 26, of 90 Monroe St., was arrested Friday on charges of second-degree reckless endangerment, reckless burning, third-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
"He saw her folding the clothes in a travel bag and ran and got the lighter fluid," St. Jeanette Saccente tells the New Britain Herald. "He then poured it on her legs and the clothing on the floor and took out a lighter."
Alvarez is being held on $150,000 bond.
