Firefighters responded to a fire at a two-family house on Spring Street in Middletown Monday morning and officials said they will work with the health department to relocate the residents.
The fire broke out in a home at 91 Spring St. and most residents were out when firefighters arrived.
Smoke detectors alerted the residents and the resident who called 911 tried to throw snow on the fire to put it out, according to fire officials.
Firefighters said they found fire in the basement and it extended through the walls to the first and second floors as well as the attic.
Crews were able to contain the fire to a corner of the house and no one was injured during the fire.
