Fire Crews Battle Large Blaze at Waste Management Facility in Berlin

NBC Connecticut

Several fire departments battled a large outdoor fire that spread to a nearby building in Berlin Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters said they've put out a fire at 415 Christian Ln., which went on for several hours. The fire took place at a waste management facility.

Officials at the scene said a large pile of rubbish caught fire and spread to the facility next door. Crews were at the scene for a total of five to six hours.

Cromwell and Newington firefighters responded to the scene to help put out the fire. Mutual aid supported Berlin's firehouses while they put out the blaze, authorities said.

The road was closed but has since reopened. It is unknown what caused the fire.

No injuries were reported.
